Caffeine gels for an extra boost
For athletes who want an edge in focus and endurance, we offer selected caffeine-infused gels alongside our original range. These variants include natural caffeine to help support alertness and perceived effort and are ideal for tough sessions or race day. Our caffeinated gels contain 30mg of caffeine, roughly one third of a single espresso shot, allowing you to micro dose throughout your session or event.

When and how to use energy gels
Energy Gels are best used during exercise that lasts longer than 60 minutes or very high intensity shorter sessions. We recommend taking one gel every 30 to 45 minutes from the start of the session, depending on your intensity and energy needs. Gels are easy to carry in your pocket, running belt, or cycling jersey with no mixing, no mess, just fuel when you need it.

Build your fueling strategy
It is important to practise with gels during training so there are no surprises on race day. Start by integrating gels into longer or intense sessions to replicate race day. You can also train your body to accept higher amounts of fuel, start small and frequently and build up over time. How many gels should I take during a long session or race?

We recommend 1 gel every 30–45 minutes during exercise lasting longer than 60 minutes with the carbohydrate aim of 30-60g per hour. For events over 90 minutes, aim for 60–90 grams of carbohydrates per hour, depending on your body size, effort level, and fuelling experience.

Should I choose caffeinated or non-caffeinated gels?

Caffeinated gels can offer a mental and physical performance boost especially during high-intensity efforts or during endurance events. If you’re new to caffeine practice with caffeine gels in training before using for racing. Many athletes use a mix of both depending on timing and personal preference.

Do I need to take water with PURE Energy Gels?

No, it is a personal preference. Our Fluid Energy Gel range is designed to be liquid in consistency so it is easy to consume without additional fluids. While the Energy Gel range is closer to traditional gel thickness many can still consume without fluids and in fact carbohydrate absorption begins in the mouth.

Can I use gels in training, or just for racing?

Yes. This helps your body adapt to fueling on the move and gives you the chance to find a strategy that works before race day. Using gels in longer training sessions can also support better performance and recovery.

Are PURE Energy Gels suitable for sensitive stomachs?

We’ve formulated our gels to be gentle on the stomach. Many athletes find the light texture and clean ingredients easier to tolerate during exercise or under intense racing conditions.

How should I carry gels during training or events?

PURE Energy Gels are compact and designed to fit easily in a running belt, cycling jersey, pocket, or hydration vest. They’re mess-free, tear-top sachets easy to open on the go and designed for convenience when you’re moving fast.
